Paying the Water Bill
Municipal water bills are paid by the owner of the property that is being served by the utility. In practice, some municipal utilities send bills to the tenants at the request of the landlord, but ultimately the landlord is responsible for paying the bill.
This type of utility can place a lien on the real property served by the utility that is owned by a customer who has a delinquent bill. The liens imposed by municipal utilities have a higher priority than those imposed by privately-owned utilities.
We will pay this type of utility bill out of the collected rent and collect reimbursement from the tenant.
What if a tenancy begins in the middle of a billing period for water?
You will only pay for the period when you started your tenancy.
Who sends the water bill to the tenant?
The landlord or property manager is responsible for sending the bill for water charges to the tenant.
